Objective.
Discrete mathematics is becoming increasingly important as a basic theory for understanding information technology. In this class, you will learn the basic concepts and methodologies of discrete mathematics.
Overview.
Students learn the fundamentals of discrete mathematics with a focus on set theory, combinatorics, and graph theory. Students learn the methodology and ways to prove problems through many concrete application examples as well as supplementary materials including many exercises.
Goal.
The goal of this course is to acquire the following skills:
- To be able to understand problems in discrete mathematics expressed using abstract concepts such as set theory and relations, and to be able to prove theorems and properties.
- To understand basic solutions of difference equations.
- To be able to understand various problems in graph theory, and to be able to prove theorems and properties of graphs.
講義内容は高校数学程度の予備知識で理解できるように配慮する。関連する科目としては,「計算機学」および「プログラミング演習A」があげられる。これらもあわせて履修することにより,この授業の理解を深めることができる。
Students are expected to understand the content of the lectures with a background knowledge of high school mathematics. Related subjects include "Computer Science" and "Programming Exercise A". Students will be able to deepen their understanding of this class by taking these subjects as well.
