1.Class subject (目的)
To gain basic knowledge on aircraft performance and learn how to size an aircraft configuration to a defined mission. Students can learn physical basis behind aircraft design and enhance their knowledge on aircraft as an integrated system.
2.Object and summary of class (概要)
Conceptual configuration design, sizing and performance calculation. The class will be mostly given in Japanese with support of a teaching assistant.
3.Goal of study (達成目標等)
This course is aimed at those who want to master basic skills for preliminary aircraft design;
1) To understand the relationship between aircraft configuration and performance.
2) To conduct a sizing of aircraft configuration to a defined mission
3) To conduct basic analysis of aircraft performance (Take-off and landing, cruise, climb, turn, etc.)
Since this course deals with aerodynamics of aircraft, it is recommended to take “Fluid dynamics I” beforehand. Also it is desirable to have basic knowledge on material mechanics and thermodynamics to gain better understanding of the subject.
