Course Title

Geography of Japan

授業の目的と概要

国内学生にとっては既知であると思われる日本地誌を英語で学び、地理学的な現象、概念、専門用語を
英語と日本語の両方で理解する。英語で、日本地誌や地理学を表現するための第一歩とする。また、日本社会を他国との比較するディスカッションをとおして理解する。

Purpose/Abstract

Understand geographical phenomenon, concepts and key terms in both English and Japanese
through reading a textbook on Geography of Japan. Intended as a first step to understand Japan and consisting regions.
literature in geography for overseas students. Understand Japanese society through comparisons to other societies through discussion.

－ Read Japanese geography written in English, understanding the geographical background of the region
in question

授業内容・方法と進度予定

英語の日本地誌の教科書を分担して要約・発表し、現象・概念・専門用語を日本語で表現する場合につ
いて議論する。

Contentsandprogressscheduleofthe class

Students will summarize and present the allocated chapters from the textbook below, while Japanese
equivalent to the phenomenon, concepts and key terms are discussed during the class.
