Topics in Climate System Physics I
This course provides lectures on radiation energy on the Earth and the global water cycle, which are extremely important for understanding complex mechanisms of climate change.
Students can logically explain radiation energy on the Earth and the global water cycle, which related to global climate change. Students also understand the remarkable development of research in this field in recent years.
Solar radiation is a driving force of atmospheric and oceanic general circulations as well as the source of evaporation, condensation and precipitation phenomena. Solar radiation incident on the earth is distributed to the atmosphere, the ocean and the land surface, transported in the forms of infrared radiation, sensible heat and latent heat, and then finally emitted to the space as infrared radiation. In the lecture, we explain the latest research results about the processes of theses energy transportations as well as the role of water cycles through phase changes among vapor, liquid and solid.
