Theory of crystal growth and crystallization mechanism
This lecture is aimed at understanding crystallization (nucleation and crystal growth) mechanism including the physics and chemistry involved in the process based on the theory of crystal growth. In particular, the driving force of crystallization, material transport in solution and the major factor controlling morphology and texture of crystals are important points to study. Examples of crystallization and texturing of natural and synthetic minerals will be given to understand how we apply those theory/principles and methods to proceed practical study.
