An Introduction to Syntax II

授業の目的と概要

前期に引き続き、生成文法による自然言語の分析に関する入門書を読み、語や文がどのような概念により分析されるのかを学ぶ。授業は担当者によるオーラル・レポートと、ディスカッションによってすすめる。

Course Objectives and Course Synopsis(授業の目的と概要)

This course, which is a continuation of An Introduction to Syntactic and Morphological Structures I from the spring, provides an intensive introduction to how various words and sentences are analyzed in terms of key notions of the approach to the study of language called generative grammar. This course mainly consists of oral report by students and discussion by all of the participants.

①生成文法理論による英語分析の概要を把握する。
②比較的多量の英文を正確に読みこなせるようになる。
③プレゼンテーションの実践的手順を把握する。

Learning Goals(学習の到達目標)

Students will understand how to analyze English sentences by the methodology of current generative grammar, develop English language skills necessary to precisely understand a fairly large amount of English text, and develop presentational skills.

授業に臨む前に、該当箇所を予習し口頭発表後のディスカッションに積極的に参加できるように準備しておくこと。授業後は、授業内容を確認し疑問点を解消しておくこと。

前期に英語学演習を履修済みであることが望ましい。
