Course Title (授業題目)

An introduction to philosophical logic

授業の目的と概要

論理学の歴史は古く、アリストテレスにまで遡ることができます。しかし、古いからといって、全てが明らかになっているわけではなく、今もなお多くの論理学者たちが、様々な問題と向き合っています。本講義では、古典命題論理に基づいて、現代の論理学の基本的な考え方を習得することを目的とします。

Course Objectives and Course Synopsis(授業の目的と概要)

Logic has a long history, going back to Aristotle. This, however, does not mean that everything has been discovered, and there are still a number of logicians facing various questions. This course aims at providing students with the basics of modern logic through classical propositional logic.

学習の到達目標

論理学とはどのような学問であるのかを理解すること、及び現代の論理学における一つの到達点である古典命題論理に関する健全性定理及び完全性定理の証明を理解することの二点を目的とします。

Learning Goals(学習の到達目標)

This course is designed for students (i) to understand what logic is, and (ii) to understand the soundness and completeness result for classical propositional logic which is the basic and important result modern logic.

期末レポートを主とし（60パーセント）、平常点（コメントペーパーの提出など）を加味します（40パーセント）。

The grade will be given based on the final essay (60%), and other small assignments (40%).
