Course Title (授業題目)

Field Methods and Linguistic Analysis

授業の目的と概要

フィールド言語調査の基本的な流れを、言語選定・調査地の探し方から調査票作成、調査・分析まで実践的に学びます。異なる言語集団の接触により誕生したピジン・クレオールを対象とし、基本的な音声・形態・文構造・意味の分析によりその言語特徴を明らかにするほか、音声と書記法・言語と国家・言語政策・言語接触・威信・借用などの社会言語学の観点からも分析・考察します。併せて、文化・歴史と相関させた言語人類学の観点からも考察します。なお比較・対照のために複数の言語データを扱います。

Course Objectives and Course Synopsis(授業の目的と概要)

This course introduces the fundamentals of research methodologies in Linguistics, covering everything from preparing the research project to them conducting it and analyzing the results. Students will research pidgin and creole, and analyze the data according to the perspective and methods of various approaches, such as descriptive linguistics, socio-linguistics, and linguistic anthropology.

By the end of this course, students will have an understanding of the key procedural elements of field research in Linguistics, and they will also be able to explain the characteristics of pidgin and creole.

定期試験（70％）、発表（30％）
