Course Title (授業題目)

An Introduction to Reading Japanese History in English

授業の目的と概要

英語で書かれた日本史の文献を取り上げその課題と方法・用語を習得し日本語に翻訳する。

Course Objectives and Course Synopsis(授業の目的と概要)

Students will be introduced to works on Japanese history written in English, will gain an understanding of the issues, methods, and vocabulary used in them, and will translate them into Japanese.

英語の日本史研究の方法と課題の特式を理解して、多分野を用いる歴史学の方法と歴史学に関する翻訳の方法を習得する。

Learning Goals(学習の到達目標)

Students will gain an understanding of the characteristic methods and issues in English-language Japanese historical research, learn to conduct historical research using methods from a variety of disciplines, and develop skills in translating historical scholarship.

購読を設定した時間にレポートを用意し、発表する。
Students will be assigned class meetings for which to prepare a report and make a presentation.
