Course Title (授業題目)

The Birth of Art: From the 14th Century to the Present

授業の目的と概要

中世末期から現代にかけての絵画および彫刻の発展過程を理解するためには、「アーティスト」および「アート」という概念 の形成過程を理解することが必要不可欠です。この授業では、信仰や崇拝の対象として制作されていた絵画や彫刻が、いかにして現代の私たちが知るアートへと「変容」していったかを、特に重要な役割を果たした作品および事例の分析を通じて概観します。

Course Objectives and Course Synopsis(授業の目的と概要)

In order to understand the development of painting and sculpture from the late Middle Ages to the present day, it is essential to understand how the concepts of "artist" and "art" were formed. In this course, we will look at how paintings and sculptures, which were originally created as objects of faith and worship, were "transformed" into the art that we know today through the analysis of works and examples that played a particularly important role.

アーティストおよびアートという概念の形成過程を具体的な作品および作家を通じて理解する。
美術作品の視覚的分析のための具体的な観点および手順（特にイコノグラフィー、様式と形式）を理解する。
14世紀から現代までの重要な美術作品を理解する。

To understand the process of formation of the concepts of artist and art through specific works and artists. Understand the specific perspectives and procedures (especially iconography, style and form) for the visual analysis of works of art.

毎回の授業でのコメントアンケート（方式は考え中。授業で示します）および全体を通じたまとめミニレポートを総合して評価します。

The evaluation is based on a comment questionnaire in each class (the method will be indicated in class) and a summary mini-report throughout.
