Change in the International Law of the Sea
The objective of this course is for students to acquire an understanding of how the international legal system works. It will consider the specific case of how the international law of the sea has responded to changing circumstances after the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea was adopted.
This course is a joint course with the Graduate School of Law.
This course aims for students to acquire a better understanding of international law and enhance their abilities to conduct research in this field. In particular, this course aims to enhance student's ability to comprehend international law materials accurately, undertake additional research on related issues, and provide their own evaluations.
The course will be conducted in person.
Participants will make presentations (20-30 minutes) based on the allocated book chapter. They will be expected to report on what is discussed in the chapter and to extend the discussion through additional research and evaluation. The presentation will be followed by a discussion with all the participants (The format may be adjusted depending on the number of participants.).

Grading will be based on the quality of the presentations (60%) and participation in the discussions (40%).
