この演習は、比較政治学の定番とも言える分野の中での準古典的論文としての評価が確立している論文、そしてその後の展開をフォローアップした論文を取り上げ、比較政治学におけるものの見方や論文の構想づくりに役立つ考え方とはどういったものかを習得することを目的とする。
The purpose of this exercise is to learn how to see things in comparative politics and what kind of thinking is useful for conceptualizing papers by covering papers that have established a reputation as quasi-classical papers in the field of comparative politics, which is a staple of the field, as well as papers that follow up on subsequent developments in the field.
この演習は説明会を除いて全7回で完了する（以下のリストより選択）。以下のテーマごとにまとめられた3本1セットの論文を読み進める。参加者には特に興味ある分野を選択してもらい、対象となる3本の論文の内容を報告して論評してもらう。
報告者不在の回については教員側で指定したものを全員で読み、それぞれの関心からコメントを述べ合って議論する。
This exercise will be completed in a total of seven sessions (selected from the list below), excluding the briefing session. Participants will read through a set of three papers organized by the following themes. Participants will be asked to select an area of particular interest and report on and discuss the contents of the three targeted papers.
In the absence of a presenter, all participants will read the articles designated by the instructor and discuss them with each other, offering comments based on their own interests.

The exercises are participatory classes, and attendance at every class is a prerequisite. Students who are conspicuously absent due to personal reasons other than unavoidable or unexcused absences will receive a failing grade.

１）テキストの内容について、まずは丁寧に読んで理解し、わからない事象や用語にぶつかった場合には、図書館の資料などを使って可能な限り調べをつけておく。
２）余裕があれば授業中に紹介された参考文献などをひもときつつ、コメントを考える。
1) First, carefully read and understand the contents of the text, and if you encounter unfamiliar events or terms, research them as much as possible using library materials.
2) If there is room, students are encouraged to think about their comments by referring to the references introduced in class.
この演習は研究大学院前期課程と公共政策大学院の合同授業とする。
This exercise will be a joint class between the Master's Program of the Graduate School of Research and the Graduate School of Public Policy.
