国際法模擬裁判の大会であるAsia Cupへ参加することにより、国際法の実践的な解釈適用を通じて国際法の理解を深める。 また、英語での書面作成・口頭弁論を経験することにより、英語を使用言語として法的な立論を行う能力を身につける。
By participating in the Asia Cup, an international law moot court competition, students will deepen their understanding of international law by practically interpreting and applying it. In addition, by drafting documents and making oral arguments in English, the course aims to build capacities in articulating and conveying legal arguments in English.
本授業では、Asia Cupへの出場を前提として、大会の問題に即して原告国のメモリアルを作成する。また、メモリアルに基づいて口頭弁論を行う。これらを通じて、具体的な事実関係に即して国際法の解釈・適用を行う能力を養う。
国際法模擬裁判およびモデルとされているところの国際裁判については講義形式で説明を行う。しかし、大会のルール上、メモリアルの作成はチームの構成員のみによるものとされているため、基本的には参加者が自主的に作業を行うことになる。教員はメモリアル提出後の授業最終回における講評を除いて、基本的に内容面での詳細な指導は行わず、参加者による作業成果のクオリティに対してコメントを行う形をとる。

Participants will draft a memorial for the applicant based on the problem for the Asia Cup and prepare oral arguments based on the memorial. By preparing for a moot court competition (Asia Cup), this course aims to foster the participants’ abilities in interpreting and applying international law to a specific set of facts.
The course will begin with a lecture-style introduction explaining the procedure of international courts and tribunals and providing guidance on how to conduct research on international law. After this, participants will work towards drafting a memorial on their own initiative since only team members can contribute to the work under the rules of the competition. Although the instructor will provide overall comments at the end of the course (provided that the team does not proceed to the oral round), instructions on the details of the work cannot be provided; comments will be limited to the overall quality of the product of work.

国際法の基礎的な概念、規則及び考え方を身につけた上で、これらを具体的な事案に即して運用できるようになることが目標である。
The goal of this course is for students to acquire an accurate understanding of basic concepts, principles, and approaches ｔｏ international law and to develop the capacity to interpret and apply rules of international law in relation to concrete cases.
個別報告の内容および作成資料を70％、演習における議論への貢献を30％として、平常点により評価する。
Grades will be evaluated based on the quality of individual presentations/materials (70%) and the contributions to the discussions in class (30%).

本授業は、参加者の自主的な作業を前提とするため、授業時間外に文献の調査や書面の作成に相当の時間を費やすことを必要とする。
Since this course is based on the work that participants will conduct at their own initiative, considerable time will be required outside the class to conduct research on relevant legal materials and to draft documents.
履修要件：原則として「国際法」を既に履修していること（ただし、国際法の基本的内容について自習等により学習している場合にはこの限りではない）。授業における使用言語は日本語であるが、作成する書面および口頭弁論を行う言語は英語である。
Students taking this course must have completed the course "International Law." For this course, the working language is Japanese. However, participants will draft documents and make oral arguments in English.
