歴史学における記憶研究の流れ
この授業では、集合的記憶や社会的記憶の視点から、アジアでの戦争を巡る資料や議論を輪読し、分析する。アジアの各地域で戦争がどのように体験され記憶されてきたかを知り、地域間の比較を通して記憶と社会の関係や、記憶それ自体の性質を探究する。
本年度は、戦争記憶研究の流れを概観する。まず、1980年代以降の「言語論的転回」に関する論文を取り上げ、現在につながる記憶研究の画期にどのような議論があったのかについてを学ぶ。その上で言語論的転回以降に注目されるようになった「集合的記憶」、「文化的記憶」、「ポストメモリー」などの概念に関する資料を読んでいく。これらは主にヨーロッパから始まった議論であることから、講義の後半ではアジアや中東を対象とした戦争記憶の諸問題を取り上げ、アジアの視点からこれらの概念を捉えなおす試みをする。
受講生には、現在の戦争記憶を巡る研究が、如何なる記憶論の流れの中にあり、それが今どのような展開をしているのかを理解し、欧米の議論をアジアの視点で捉えなおすことで、アジアの歴史や社会・自然環境を土台とした歴史観や記憶論を生み出す可能性を、それぞれの関心を踏まえて探究してもらいたい。
n this class, students will read through and analyze documents and discuss the war in Asia from the perspectives of collective and social memory. We will learn how wars have been experienced and remembered in various regions of Asia, and explore the relationship between memory and society and the nature of memory itself through comparisons between regions.
This year, we will review the currents of war memory research. First, we will read articles on the "linguistic turn" from the 1980s onward, and learn about the debates that took place during the groundbreaking period of memory research leading up to the present day. Then, we will read materials on concepts such as "collective memory," "cultural memory," and "post memory," which have attracted attention since the linguistic turn. Since these debates mainly originated in Europe, the second half of the lecture will focus on various issues of war memory in Asia and the Middle East in an attempt to rethink these concepts from an Asian perspective.
Students are expected to understand the flow of memory theory which the current research base on and how it is developing, also explore the possibility of creating a view of history and memory theory based on Asian history and social/natural environment by rethinking Western debates from Asian perspectives.
本授業は次の三つの段階によって進められる
１．「言語論的転回」を巡る議論の輪読
２．「言語論的転回」以降の記憶論に関する輪読
３．アジアの戦争記憶を巡る諸問題を取り上げ、欧米の記憶論をアジアの視点から捉えなおす
受講者は毎回課題として出された文献を読み、授業に臨むこと。授業の中で割り当てられた担当文献に関してまとめて発表を行うことが期待される。担当文献に関する発表を行う際は、その文献に関連する資料も読込み、広い視点から、文献を把握し、自身の考察も行うこと。また、学期末にレポートを提出すること。
The class will proceed in three phases
1. Readings on the "linguistic turn" and its implications.
2. Readings on theories of memory after the "linguistic turn"
3. Re-examining Western theories of memory from an Asian perspective, focusing on issues related to memory of war in Asia.
受講者には授業で取り上げる文献の講読及び関連する資料の収集、プレゼンテーションの準備、レポートの執筆を行うことが求められる。
Students are expected to read the litterature discussed in class, collect relevant materials, prepare presentations, and write reports.
授業中の発言や発表など授業への貢献及びレポートの執筆により評価する。
Evaluation will be based on contributions to the class such as comments and presentations in class, and on written reports.
