授業の目的と概要/Object and summary of class

The lecture provides an introduction to modern macroeconomics at an advanced level, with a focus on the essential theoretical macroeconomic models, and provides empirical evidence in the areas of economic growth.

Students will understand the theory of economic growth and elucidate the actual disparities in growth among countries.

授業内容・方法と進度予定/Contents and progress schedule of the class

Initially, we will sequentially present the Solow model, the Ramsey–Cass–Koopmans model, the Diamond model, and the new growth theory, guiding students to comprehend the internal logic inherent in model derivation. Subsequently, we will employ relevant literature to scrutinize the origins of substantial variations in average incomes among nations, aiming to assist students in grasping the underlying reasons for these disparities.

成績評価方法/Evaluation method

40% of the final grade will be determined by homework assignments, while the remaining 60% will be based on a closed-book final exam.
