Seminar in Economics a

The objectives of this class are 1) to become familiar with previous studies relevant to your research topics, 2) to learn relevant statistical theories and improve computer programming skills, 3) to acquire hands-on experience writing lengthy reports, and 4) to gain presentation skills. This class is designed for the first year students.
By the end of this class, students should be able to decide on a research topic and direction for theses/projects.
This is not a lecture-based class. Students are expected to show progress in their research regularly and submit a term paper (about 20 pages). At the same time, they learn statistical methods and a programming language to apply statistical theories to economic and financial data.

Students conduct their research outside the class and prepare for the presentations and the term paper.
Prerequisites: Economic theory, Statistics, Math, and English proficiency.
Take this class during the first year if you wish to write a thesis or carry out a project under my supervision.
Also complete Microeconomics I & II, Macroeconomics I & II, and Econometrics I & II during the first year.
