授業の目的と概要/Object and summary of class

In this seminar, students will continue to explore the differing concepts and tools used in the study of Economic History. Participants are also encouraged to adopt a comparative approach in order to see the differences and similarities between Asia and European economies from a wider historical perspective. It is essential for students to learn how to conduct a proper historical research and to prepare for writing a dissertation.

学習の到達目標/Goal of study

This is a seminar style course intended to allow students to have in-depth discussion between themselves so that they can develop their research skills for writing up a dissertation.

授業内容・方法と進度予定/Contents and progress schedule of the class

Note that students are required to have access to Google’s Meet online conferencing service. Therefore, those who wish to participate in the seminar should contact the instructor by email in advance. This class is designed to offer the opportunity of Distance Learning for students who choose to study outside the University campus. 

The details of the course content and schedule will be explained at the first meeting in Week 1.

In this seminar, students are required to prepare for the assigned part of the designated books and articles for each class. It is also important for students to write a long essay on their research interest.

Reading materials will be suggested in the opening session.

成績評価方法/Evaluation method

Presentation and participation: 50%/ Essay: 50%
