授業の目的と概要/Object and summary of class

経済事象に関する歴史学的考察は、理論の構築や現状分析とともに複雑な経済現象を解明するためになくてはならない分析方法の柱である。本演習では、水準の高い商業社会に不可欠な西洋起源の制度、組織、政策をテーマに専門書の輪読と討論を行う。履修者は、イギリス経済史（中世から近代）を中心に、西洋経済とそれ以外の地域経済との間に見られる共通点や相違点、現代社会の経済問題へも目を向けながら、比較分析を念頭に研究を進める方法を習得することが求められる。

履修者にはグローバルな歴史感覚をもとに、積極的に海外の研究成果を研究に取り入れる姿勢が望まれる。

In this seminar, students are expected to evaluate the differing concepts and tools used in the study of Economic History, but more importantly, to recognize the power of the historical past and how it shaped the structure of our society. Our discussion will mainly focus on the modern European economy but students are encouraged to adopt a comparative approach in order to see the differences and similarities between Asia and European economies from a wider historical perspective.

学習の到達目標/Goal of study

• 経済史学の目的と意義、基本的な研究方法について理解する
• 経済史に関する専門書の要点について正確に論述できるようになる。

• Students are expected to understand contrasting courses of economic development, which converged and diverged along the route to a modern industrialized society.
• Students are also expected to learn how economic problems are closely linked with political and social issues in a historical context.

授業内容・方法と進度予定/Contents and progress schedule of the class

地域における経済発展の事例を比較・検討し、論点整理や方法上の問題点について考察する。履修者の問題関心に合わせて、文献の輪読と討論を行う。履修者は、輪読を通じて関心のあるテーマを一つ選び、各自課題を設定し、研究報告とレポート作成の準備を進める。具体的には以下の要領で毎回の授業を進める。

•輪読の際、履修者はぞれぞれの担当部分について、要点がわかるようにレジュメを作成し、有意義なディスカッションに資する詳細な報告を行う。

•担当者と相談の上、各自の研究課題を決定し、関連文献に関する詳細な報告を行う。

The details of the course content and schedule will be explained at the first meeting in Week 1.

In this seminar, students are required to prepare for the assigned part of the designated books and articles for each class. It is also important for students to write a long essay on their research interest.

Reading materials will be suggested in the opening session.

成績評価方法/Evaluation method

平常の成績、研究報告、レポートにより評価する。使用する言語は日本語/英語どちらでも可。

Presentation and participation: 50%/ Essay: 50%
