Topics of Literacy: Reading in Foreign Texts(English)

近年、ジェンダー平等について社会的関心が高まるなかで、経済史研究の分野でも女性の労働やライフコース、エンパワメントに関する研究が急速に進展しつつあります。本授業では、経済史分野での女性労働やジェンダー（不）平等に関する代表的な著作や近年の論文を原文で読み、経済史研究の新潮流に触れることを目的とします。
In recent years, as social interest in gender equality has increased, research on women's labor, life course, and empowerment has rapidly progressed in economic history research. The purpose of this class is to expose you to new trends in economic history research by reading the original texts of representative works and recent papers on women's labor and gender inequality in economic history.

・英語で書かれた専門書や学術論文を読むことに習熟する。
・経済史研究における女性労働やジェンダー（不）平等に関する主要論点を理解する。
The goals of this class are that the student.
（1） gets used to reading English books/articles
（2） obtains basic knowledge of economic history research on women's labor and gender inequality.
本授業では、毎回、事前準備（ホームワーク）として指定箇所（20ページ前後）を和訳することが求められます。そのうえで授業時間内では、以下の通り進めます（ただし、履修者の人数と学年などに応じて変更する可能性があります）。①和訳した内容をグループ内で口頭報告する、②和訳した内容についていくつかの議題に即してグループ内で討論する、③和訳や討論の内容について講師から簡単な補足説明する、④討論や講義を踏まえて、各自のコメントを英語で記して提出する。
In this class, students are required to translate the designated sections (about 20 pages) into Japanese as homework each class. The class will then proceed as follows. (1) Oral group discussion of the translated material, (2) Group discussion of the translated material on several topics, (3) Brief supplementary explanation from the instructor on the translated material and discussion, (4) Submission of written comments in English based on the discussion and lecture.
講読する文献は以下を予定しています（ただし、履修者の人数と学年などに応じて変更する可能性があります）。各回授業で講読する分量はおおむね20ページ前後となります。
The reading book and articles are as follows (however, it may change depending on the number of students and grade level). The reading volume for each class is approximately 20 pages.
