分子と細胞から見た生命
Life. Molecular and cellular aspects.
地球上には多様な生物が存在するが，これらが共通して持っている基本的なしくみがある．生命現象を支える分子と細胞の基本的なはたらきについて理解することを目指す．もやもやした「生命の神秘」の曖昧さから解放し，「単純な原理に基づいて組み立てられている複雑さ」が実現している，もう一つの「神秘」に案内したい．なお，高校生物の知識は要求しない．むしろ化学の知識を使うことが多い，これもできるだけ基礎的なところから解説する．
There are basic mechanisms that are shared by diverse organisms on the earth. We aim to understand the fundamental functions of the molecules and cells that constitute life. We want to free you from the assumption of "mystery of life" and guide you to another "mystery" that is realized by "complexity based on simple principles".
・DNA，タンパク質を中心に生体物質の基本的な性質が分かる．
・DNAの複製，遺伝子の発現機序の概要が分かる．
・生命を支えるエネルギーの流れの概要が分かる．
The student will be able to understand the characteristics of biological molecules, especially DNA and proteins.
Students will understand the mechanisms of DNA replication and gene expression.
Students will be able to understand the flow of energy that supports life.
第1回：導入と概観
第2回から第5回：生体分子（水，タンパク質，核酸，脂質と糖質）
第6回から第8回：細胞（細胞の構造，オルガネラ，細胞膜）
第9回から第12回：遺伝情報とその発現（DNAの分子構造，複製，転写と翻訳，発現制御，ゲノム構造）
第13回から第15回：生体エネルギー論（熱力学，ATP，呼吸）
ただし，進度によって回数が若干変動することがありうる．
1. Introduction and overview
2 - 5. Biological molecules; water, proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and saccharides
6 - 8: Cell; cell structure, organelles, and cell membrane.
9- 12: Genetic information and expression; molecular structure of DNA, replication, transcription and translation, regulation of expression, and genome structure.
13 - 15: Bioenergetics; Thermodynamics, ATP, and respiration.
中間と期末の2回のレポートで評価する．各回のQuizへの回答，質問，コメントにも加点する．
Students are evaluated on the midterm examination and the final report. Short reports, questions, and comments are also evaluated.
毎回の講義資料をGoogle Classroomに掲載するので，これに基づいて予習及び復習を行う．
またレポート作成にあたっては，かなりの量の資料類を読み込むことが求められる．
The materials for each lecture will be provided on the Google Classroom, and students are expected to prepare for and review the lecture based on the materials.
Students are also expected to read a considerable amount of material for their reports.
原則として不要だが，持ち込んで利用しても構わない．
In principle, a PC is not required, but students are welcome to bring their own.
教科書は指定しない．参考書は講義中に随時紹介する．
No textbooks will be used. Reference books will be introduced during the lecture.
